Joyce loves dogs!! When you meet her, you will experience this first hand. She always has a funny story to tell and enjoys talking to anyone and everyone about their dogs. Her background includes almost 30 years of experience working with dogs including...working at Animal Control, being a Veterinarian Assistant, a Kennel Technician, owning and operating a pet sitting service, owning and operating 3 Pet Hotels, here and in Florida, showing dogs in AKC conformation, obedience training and showing dogs in AKC Rally O and Obedience. Joyce loves to see dogs and their people succeed together. She works hard every day to assure that people love their dogs and their behavior as much as their dogs love them.
Rescue is very important to Joyce and you will see any number of these wonderful dogs at The Dog Spot working on finding their confidence, getting healthy, and looking for their new forever homes. Some of the rescues she is involved with include Pound Puppies 'N Kittens, English Bulldog Rescue of GA, Five Freedoms Farm, Atlanta Boxer Rescue, Out of The Box Boxer Rescue, and Angels Among Us.

Savannah has worn many hats during her time with TDS. She has run the Boarding/Playcare operations, been Team Manager, and is currently Receptionist and Certified Trainer. This is one amazingly brilliant young lady. Once she obtained her Certification, she took off in her Training career. Now, she is front and center, teaching dogs and their pup parents through our Day Training program. Her calm, gentle nature combined with her knowledge, skill, and expertise allow her to help dogs who are learning basic skills to those experiencing fears, anxieties, reactivity, and even aggression.
“I have loved dogs all of my life! I grew up with all different types of animals and decided at a young age that I wanted to be a veterinarian. As I got older, my mind changed, but I knew I still wanted to work in the animal care field. When I graduated high school I got my first job at a dog kennel. Two years later I was hired at The Dog Spot and have been here for 3 years! I am a Certified Dog Trainer and I absolutely love my career. It brings me joy to help humans communicate with and live happier lives with their canine companions!”
Dog Handler & Caretaker
Tina is in charge of all things...clean...at TDS. One of our highest priorities is maintaining a safe and sanitary facility for dogs to come, stay, play, and learn. Tina assures that this is the case each and every day. But that is not all Tina is to us. She is a leader. Tina has worked in Pet Hotels and Boarding Facilities as a Caretaker and Manager for over 15 years. When she came to TDS, it was an obvious choice to put her in charge of how TDS runs. It is such a relief knowing the TDS facility, as well as the dogs in our care, are in the hands of such a caring and dedicated person.
Tina was born and raised in Land O' Lakes, Florida. She grew up on a farm where she took care of horses, cattle, pigs, and any stray animal that she could find. Tina has had a passion for animals all of her life and she loves all kinds. In her lifetime, she has rescued dogs, snakes, deer, birds, squirrels, and even a prairie dog, giant snapping turtles, and a couple of alligators.
Tina has worked with dogs for 20+ years and cannot see herself doing anything else. In 2002, she started working for Joyce at a pet hotel Joyce owned, in Florida, called Pets In Paradise. In 2012, Tina moved to Georgia and worked managing a boarding facility located in a Veterinarian's building. After 6 years, she decided to come work with Joyce again, at The Dog Spot. Tina is excited for the opportunity to learn how to train dogs using modern, science-based, positive methods as well as getting to use her love, passion, and skills while she cares for the amazing dogs at TDS.
Tina has always enjoyed working with Joyce and loves being back doing what comes so naturally to her...loving and caring for dogs. Tina says the most rewarding part of working at TDS is getting to help rescue dogs find their forever homes.
"To help a rescue dog find their forever home is such a rewarding feeling and I will never want to stop caring for the animals."
Receptionist, Dog Caretaker
Hello, my name is Stephanie Jaje. I work for The Dog Spot and would like to tell you a little about myself. I am 22 years old and have a huge passion for animals. I was born and raised in Lutz, Florida where my mom managed a boarding place called Pets in Paradise, owned by Joyce. I lived there from the age of 4 to 13. I've always been around dogs and have learned so much about them through the years. They will always have a soft spot in my heart. I've had a vast number of different pets over the years from dogs, pigs, hamsters, guinea pigs, snakes, squirrels, rabbits, and even prairie dogs. My family and I moved to Georgia where I've grown into the person I am today. I have had different jobs but my passion for dogs brought me back to what I really love. I decided I wanted to work with dogs again and knew there was only one place...The Dog Spot. I love working with all the rescues and Playcare pups that come here. I even get to learn a lot about training dogs and different behaviors dogs show us. My family has adopted 3 puppies through the Dog Spot and couldn't have asked for better dogs. I've been employed at the Dog Spot for about a year and the best part is getting to play with so many amazing dogs, I truly love my job!
Debra is our happy, cheerful, smiling afternoon receptionist. She is also the reason we stay so well organized. Debra makes sure we never run out of supplies, she maintains our client database, she sends out thank you cards, and she makes sure the afternoon pick ups run as smoothly as possible. We are thankful that Debra has chosen to work with TDS.
"I came to work for TDS to use my customer service skills. I really love helping customers with their needs and making them happy.
I always give 100% with every job or task that comes my way. It’s such a joy to bring customers their dogs every afternoon and see their big smiles!!!!!! PRICELESS !!!! "
Look for great things from this young lady! Katherine joined The Dog Spot not because she asked to join but because we asked HER to join. We met Katherine through her rescue work with PPNK and saw the natural rapport and passion she has with the dogs. We are thrilled that she said...YES! Katherine loves dogs! I mean, really loves dogs! She keeps such a watchful eye over all the dogs in our care plus she takes rescues home and works on their confidence, health, and behavior until they are adopted. She never gives up! Katherine has grown in her knowledge of dog care, handling, and teaching and continues to soak up any knowledge that comes her way. We love having Katherine on our team!
" I came to TDS because I love animals. I foster dogs for a rescue and I work for TDS. I'm a quiet and caring person with a big heart. I like learning. I'm slow going and gentle but I'm strong when I need to be. I'm pretty resilient."
Cody has been a great addition to the TDS team. He is kind, gentle, and absolutely loves dogs. He has shown that he has a natural understanding for reading dog's behaviors and recognizing how they are feeling...physically and emotionally. He is also our only guy and does an amazing job of dealing with all the new women in his life. We are thrilled Cody has joined the TDS team!
"Hello, my name is Cody Jaje and I work for TDS and I would love to tell you a little about myself. I have grown up around dogs my whole life. When I was a baby, my mom got a job working with Joyce, at her Pet Hotel in Florida. I grew up in a house with dogs, learning every day that I love dogs more and more. We lived at the pet hotel for about 12 years and then we moved to Georgia. A few years later, I got my first job and it was as a Caretaker for dogs and cats. I worked there for a couple of years and then found my way to The Dog Spot where I am now employed for just under a year. It has been the greatest experience ever. Every day I come in to work and I learn something that I never thought I would."
Heather Pesaresi, ABCDT
Certified Dog Trainer
Heather Pesaresi has been employed at The Dog Spot for 2 ½ years. She graduated from the Animal Behavior College in 2018 with a Certification in Domestic Canine Training as well as a Certification in Pet CPR and First Aid. Prior to training on her own at The Dog Spot, as an ABCDT, Heather had to be proficient in her skills and knowledge. She completed the required 18 month apprenticeship under Joyce Keeton, CBC FFCT. Heather is the kind of Trainer that sees a problem from both sides: the human side and the canine side. She must vet every option, theory, and opinion from her team before she decides on a course of action. The Dog Spot is a science-based training and enrichment center; therefore, Heather is always expanding and investigating new and exciting levels of education. She enjoys all types of a cases from the simple puppy manners to the challenging fear and anxiety based. Heather has taken the lead on developing our unique and effective Confidence Course that we currently use to help dogs cope in this very difficult human world. She continues to modify and improve the course with every case, whether it's a puppy just learning the ropes or a dog experiencing extreme behavior problems due to fear and anxiety.
When asked her favorite part of being in dog training, she quoted “If I had to pick just one, it’s seeing the relief and happiness in both the pet parent and the dog. That single moment when they all realize they are not just owner and pet, but a family.
